Email services of all types are obnoxious. Any message deemed worthy of an email can be dispensed with an RSS feed. This allows a user to sign up for updates rather than having info pushed onto them.

Imagine subscribing to an RSS feed for something like password reset, order confirmation etc.
But for marketing stuff: Totally.
I don’t know anyone using email services for password resets. Emails for communication of one transaction is fine. The repetitive dispensing of random information by email is not.
