People have the right to communicate privately without backdoors or censorship, including when those people are minors. Apple should make the right decision: keep these backdoors off of users’ devices.
You would have to be an idiot to use cloud services for such “material”. This is not a move to “save the children” but some political action on part of Apple. Nobody by now should have an illusion that any for-profit company will keep their data safe and private.
Also nobody learned anything from NSO Group/Pegasus apparently… sad.
Is this only scanning iCloud or also the internal storage of the phone?
They already do it on iCloud, this will be client side
So basically all of internal storage as well. This creates massive possibilities of planting evidence and is dangerous.
