@Houkime on itch.io has recently started organizing Gamejams on the Fediverse. This is a great idea to get some real creative hackathons going that drive fedi forwards at the same time.
This brainstorming thread is for posting game ideas that might be picked up in these sessions.
In the analog 80s, there were a lot of so-called “play-by-mail” games.
the game mechanics could be perfectly transformed to activityPub/Fediverse.
that would be a huge source for some inspiration!

Wow. I didn’t know. It can be a really good path to explore.
Wonderful idea. Love it!
there are all kind of games, strategy, rpg, simulations…
in early stages (PBM) player actions were evaluated manually (including dice-rolls, whatever).
8-bit home computers enabled more complex evaluation systems, still, no internet at this time, letters & envelopes only XD
i haven’t played later games with e-mail support (PBEM) though ^^
mabye fediverse-gaming could revive some of these concepts!
I sure think it could. Also think that with gaming involved there’s more likelihood to entice people to actively contribute, which can be quite hard for the average federated project, and even harder for organizing a community dedicated to evolving open standards + ecosystem (which is mostly stalled).
