It depends on the game. Like if it’s an online only game, then of course that makes sense. But a single player game, or even a game with a single player mode requiring always online is and will always be dumb.

Diablo 4 not being designed for offline solo play as well (like D2 and I think even D3 was) is annoying though.

The Last of Us is fine for about one playthrough. When I played through I was sad the story was ending but I was kind of glad I didn’t have to keep playing. I feel like it stayed just long enough where it didn’t wear out it’s welcome. Haven’t gotten around to the 2nd yet so I have no opinion there.

God of War I’ve enjoyed in limited doses but I’m with you. I’ve bought a handful of installments for it and I don’t think I got much further than a few hours on any of them. I know it’s dumb I keep buying them but for whatever reason they always seem to have a great sale going on everytime I think about giving it another shot. The thing is I’ve enjoyed other hack and slash games and I enjoy Greek mythology but for whatever reason the gameplay in this series has never clicked with me

No I don’t think it will. I would be shocked if Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, LinkedIn, etc etc ever truly went away. If people remain dedicated to improving and promoting the fediverse it could carve out it’s own space in the social media landscape. And once that happens you never know what the future holds. But I’d be surprised if it took over everything in the space

That’s the impression I got from the devs and admins here, but I’m not certain my impressions are correct or what kind of impact external users posting to beehaw communities impacts beehaw’s instance

Well kbin.social and beehaw.org have both gotten the hug of death over the last 25 minutes so that’s fun haha. Might have to hop over to a smaller instance to spread the load out

I agree in 98% of cases. There are some cases (and this is splitting hairs so i apologize) where i’m fine with it. I think preservation for some near lost media that hasn’t been purchasable for a long time (and maybe is tied to 30-40 year old hardware that isn’t supported or buyable from the producing company anymore) i think is an exception i’m willing to make. This is particularly prevalent to older games that are tied to long defunct devices that aren’t supported anymore like very old dos games.

But I’m also of the opinion those things shouldn’t have to be “pirated” in the first place and if you haven’t offered the ability to acquire it legally in decades it should fall into public domain.

lemmy.ml probably won’t because it’s kind of the de-facto default instance where the devs can communicate to everyone. You’re best bet is to create an account on an instance that blocks lemmygrad (like Beehaw that was mentioned, i’m sure others do as well)

I quite liked them at first but how many do we need? It’s become so over saturated and I’ve long burned out of the genre.

I need to start going back to the theaters more. The ones near me had awesome leather seats. I could hang out there all day and watch movies if it wasn’t for the costs and need for natural light haha

Go to the communities page on here and it will bring up a list of communities. Select the ‘all’ tab and it will bring up all the communities hosted on here and on other instances that are linked with beehaw. So you may see a ‘Technology’ community and a ‘Technology@lemmy.ml’ community. The first one is the technology community hosted here on beehaw, and the second one is the technology community hosted on lemmy.ml.

Now beehaw users can’t make instances (as decided by the beehaw admins), but there are instances you can create your own communities. So you will definitely run across some more niche ones from those external instances in that communities page that you can access and subscribe/post to

Sweat is kind of unavoidable (especially where I live where it gets very humid). Cold beverages (drink plenty of water), stay in the shade, jump in a pool (not an option for everyone, sometimes ill just splash cold water on my face), AC is wonderful (also not an option for everyone), or at least turn on some fans and get some airflow on you.

You can (potentially), you just have to find it on your instance’s community tab (it will display the communities hosted in your lemmy.ml as well as external ones it’s “federated” to), you can’t directly go to that instance’s site and subscribe though. If it’s a community from an instance not federated your outta luck though
