4·2 years agoI think that has multiple reasons:
- People come here because they are fed up with Reddit. Be it the users, the content or their policies. Also I am not sure where I would advertise Lemmy. I only found it because I was interested in alternatives and happen to stumble over it when Reddit fucked up some new policies
- Lemmy is not yet as intuitive as Reddit especially when it comes to apps. It’s hard to sell to new users. Also the Fediverse is a pretty daunting thing at first and requires some reading into
- The political climate might not speak to the vast majority of users.
- There is not yet a critical mass to attract users. Most instances are rather quite

I always assumed I pay extra for the OS. The last few times I went laptop shopping there always was an option to buy the Laptop without an OS aswell…
Wait you can’t change your default new page anymore in Firefox? I was sure that was an option before…
What devices are we talking about? For phone to PC is use KDE Connect. It’s reasonably fast 🤔
I block any Lemmygrad instance that I see. Fuck them. I came here from Reddit so I wouldn’t get some stupid agenda shoved down my throat. I’m sure that one of the main reasons lemmy is not picking up users at a higher rate is because of lemmygrad. If I have to tell every friend “Yeah it’s quite okay but don’t choose the biggest instance because it’s full of extrem leftiest and communists” that will turn down alot of potential users because they just don’t want to deal with this shit on a daily basis either. Twitter is already bad for creating social media bubbles but this has turned into an unprecedented echo chamber without end.
