Was having a conversation with a mod who was upset that I downvoted their opinion. Apparently if you disagree, you are banned. Looking at you @CHEFKOCH@lemmy.ml. I wouldn’t consider anything I did trolling or a violation of the rules of c/scandalzilla.
Here is the post if anyone wants to validate: https://lemmy.ml/post/163594
That sublemmy is something I am not comfortable with in the first place. It is clear the place is intended to drum up drama using conspiratorial hot takes, because Mozilla is a prominent entity. Think of it like banking off Mozilla’s status.
Mozilla may have its share of issues, but the rules laid out on that sublemmy made my eyes wide open for a moment.
That account (chefkoch) really is an aggressive and full of logical fallacies one, I would suggest you to avoid discussing with it
And he stole other people works in the past too https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js/issues/323
Oh my god… thanks for sharing
Debunked here.
Linking walls of text filled with links to your own blog isn’t debunking. Its a straight up fascist tactic to denounce others positions since no one is going to read. How about you actually explain yourself in a comment instead of posting a link to your blog.
Not to mention you didn’t actually debunk any of their evidence, its just a rant about doxing and TOS violations. Crying about ‘doxing’ then listing a bunch of users you dont like it the same post? Come on dude.
Yeah, seem to have learned that the hard way. I just wanted to make a post to bring awareness.
Yes I think you did nothing bad by mentioning the problem, I hope there’s something we can do
You never talked with me.
Yeah I never said that
Then this is baseless claim.
That account (chefkoch) really is an aggressive and full of logical fallacies one,…
You contradict yourself, only logical problem I see in the attempt to clown around here. You do not know me, we never spoken before and you have no right to judge me or my action that was correct, OP swiped under the roof that he reported it, did not got what he wanted and cries afterwards.
I was judging from your posts and commebts I saw on Lemmy, not trolling. Also I would be happy to be wrong, so I’ll check next days if your behaviour changes
You cannot judge something if you do not know the entire story, and I clearly revealed this. You are not involved and therefore no reason to judge me or take what OP claims serious.
This is just another - I got banned and cannot handle it - story, hope we can move on, the user is not worth the fake drama.
This is all toxic behaviour, can’t you see it? You should just calm down and try not to be aggressive. I never said you were aggressive with me, I just expressed an opinion. If you don’t like it you have to accept it and answer, not using powers like you did some times. Anyways, why instead of spreading hate against Firefox don’t you try spreading info on alternatives? Hate is something that blinds our minds and creates a suffocating experience in Lemmy
Damn at this point I feel like we need c/lemmydrama

Yes they demanded proof that 5G isn’t harmful, lmao what
I’ve only ever seen posts from them that are mostly power abuse. They act like they’re better than anyone else and bans anyone who disagrees. They very much have an inferiority complex.
Edit: I came to lemmy to avoid people high on power, not have the cesspool of Reddit come to take over here as well.
We’re discussing it in the admin chat whether to do anything about them. They have mostly been doing it on their own communities, but to me having lemmy be a pleasant experience is more important than mod’s “freedom to do what they want with their communities”.
Respect for discussing it, regardless of the outcome. Even if you end up going with allowing the mods to have free reign, I’m glad that it’s going to be discussed instead of turning a blind eye like Reddit does.
I’m glad to hear that its being discussed, but I’m not sure what the best course of action would be in this scenario. It seems that each has their drawbacks, including doing nothing.
- I reviewed the OP user as well as his content, or in this case his question and my decision on this is okay and justified. People dislike it for no reason, just report it with - troll - without anything and I reviewed it again. No evidence for or against provided, just random people who clown up, because they dislike I post historical events from Mozilla.
- I do not ban users based on user names or what others people want me to do here, that actually would be abuse.
- There was no power abuse, it was response to aggressive trolling smear and discredit someone which was misconducted by the Jessie. I took action to protect the topic as per community rules.
Here are the bogus reports - what a surprise that same people clown-up here as payback revenge - because I do not approved their nonsense reports. Most of those reports before they already showed up in the thread, so their disagreed that I did not remove this and aggressively tried to turn this around, THIS is what happened.
People got banned for much less without any drama afterwards.
This entire thread is to smear me, and the community I created. I am also not a Lemmy Mod, I moderate some communities here, so even the title is already misleading and clickbait. It is also already against Lemmy ToS, because he cannot handle he got banned and that is bottom line here. So he creates a which hunt. I like to remind everyone that such topics directly violate Tos and code of conduct, yet I do not even report this here.
The smart decision is to block users or communities if you disagree entirely because there is nothing to get from. Now people trying to support him because they might also got banned by me for trolling or have other problems with my content.
So this is typical case of payback action. Nothing to see here. I explained everything very well.
Last statement from me on this.
There was no abuse, not to any time. He got banned for various reason check the mod log.
Yup, he banned me for criticizing a bloomberg article lol
I feel like he can do his thing on his own communities, but it is annoying when he posts in !linux, and then when the post becomes popular, he deletes it =/
Fun fact is that this user that I banned here wanted to abuse his voice to take a legitimate question down.
Ironic isn’t it.
@CHEFKOCH@lemmy.ml shame on you
i wonder if they marked 8 days away on their calander xD
Yeah he’s been like this for a while. Quite an ass he has been.
I’m definitely surprised. I’ve received messages now about how they hand out bans like candy to anyone who disagrees with them.
Unreal.
Even though I have a similar ban currently - Lets be really careful not to pile up like a bunch of haters Use the voting buttons and and disengage from fighting where possible or we spiral to the bottom like Reddit.
Yeah I agree that it’s starting to get a little pitchforky, but mostly, people are just sharing similar experiences with the mod - which is good, because a shared dialogue about a series of bad behavior helps to inform the community. As for using the voting buttons, that’s all well and good, yeah. Always vote.
Yeah, I don’t downvote people because I disagree, only if they’re not contributing to the conversation and debasing it.
I’m planning on making a debate instance, and I’m pretty sure I want to disable downvotes for that 🤔
And upvotes too?
He’s not the only mod who’s abusing his powers. !privacy@lemmy.ml and !technology@lemmy.ml have the same problem. A reason, why I have banned this coms on my instance.
Why not discuss in the open about issues, like this post? I am sure a constructive approach is to document evidence and demonstrate a clear conclusion to the masses.
Anyone that cares about their privacy should steer clear of communities that say they’re about privacy. They always turn into shit shows and echo chambers. Not to mention they’re usually on platforms that dont actually respect your privacy.
I somewhat disagree. The quality of posts and responses varies but where else would you discuss privacy if not in a privacy forum? :D I’ve also read and learned and shared on e.g. r/privacy.
That people claim after they got banned abuse is as old as the internet.
You got banned for your own reasons, your failed to attempt to discredit and smear someone else valid question. Even after showing you that his question was more than okay you refused to accept it, down-voted without valid argument and even in advance tried to bring the entire thread down by reporting it.
In retro perspective
- You down-voted every thread in this community, and every single post and legitimate answer. If you do not like it block users as well as the community, there is no point in arguing about historical events if you have nothing to add.
- You enforce your bias on others with failed attempts to take this down.
- You reported this thread in advance like a child because you did not liked what OP, or for that matter the community has to offer.
- You had no evidence, this is against community rules, I banned you for that and your intolerance against other members who just wanted to ask a question and even after explaining you that this is okay you continued.
- This thread is against Lemmy Code of Conduct but I do not report it, it exposes you as an awful being which no one should have in his community. Which is clear after the drama stunt you pull here.
My choice was correct. I banned all others now who abused the report function, without any legit reason just to troll me and the community.
Have a good day, you ban will now be indefinitely.
- Nothing further to discuss here, I will block every troll in this thread. -
You down-voted every thread in this community, and every single post and legitimate answer. If you do not like it block users as well as the community, there is no point in arguing about historical events if you have nothing to add.
banning people for down-voting???
You enforce your bias on others with failed attempts to take this down.
wat?
You reported this thread in advance like a child because you did not liked what OP, or for that matter the community has to offer.
it was a valid report. Also is reporting unreasonable now?
Wtf are you doing…
I do not ban for down-vote, this is your wrong interpretation of the whole picture. I added it to show his bias.
It was no valid report I contradicted it. If I would ban everyone who ask questions, that would actually be mod abuse. His report was before he even showed up in the thread, so this was troll attempt. I protect my community here from other who smear people who just asked a valid question, or in this case multiple.
I ban trolls as I am supposed to do. There will be no unban.
Your contradiction was in fact, not a contradiction, but a thinly veiled attempt to feel correct. I think myself and many others agree that this was you overstepping. I reported the post once for violating three rules, and you call that report abuse? You could have just said that it didn’t break rules and atop there but I didn’t “abuse” anything. Its also not against the rules to downvote something I deem to be poor quality content.
Edit: blocked, given your history and other user experiences with you.
Blocking isn’t enough. There will eventually be another one of these posts when he pisses off the next person with an unfounded ban.
This is already the second one I’ve seen (someone linked the one you made 2mo ago lol), and like 5d ago I got into it with him on the linux sub because I asked the sub advice on what distro would fit my needs and that was just too much for him to handle without being condescending. Instead of making a post like y’all though I just ripped into him because it was hilarious and fun to me and because I am way better at it then him but I only use my powers for good lmao.
Ah yes, the good old “jUsT asKiNg qUEstiOns”… Has never been associated with trolling/(click)bait and was always a start of a good discussion. https://c.tenor.com/2GoRIWk3MjwAAAAC/what-im-just-asking-a-question.gif
Ah yes the good old racist stereotypes you pin on others. People are allowed to ask questions, if you like it or not, happens in asklemmy, linux etc communities all the time and they do not get banned because of this.
It is part of community behavior which is normal and allowed.
WOAH WOAH WOAH, people are allowed to ask questions in linux if you like it or not now?! This is a stark difference from you being mad I asked a question in linux last week, during which I informed you that other people get to use the internet despite your protests, glad to see I got through to you! Lmao I’m loving this tbh.
People are also allowed to
- Disagree
- Agree
- Express their professional opinions
- Giving guidance
- Block others, there is an option in the settings
- Block the community if you entirely dislike it
- Clear this via DM instead of creating public drama
I reported you now, you make this here as payback action after you disagree in the Linux sub, this is off-topic. You smear me, calling me constantly a prick, dick and god knows what. You are the only one who is rude.
OP was banned not for asking question because he undermines other people that just asked normal question about the relationship between google and Mozilla.
And people are also allowed to
•call you a prick, especially since they’re right.
•be condescending like you are
•be rude back or make posts talking about it.
So it seems we are at an impasse. I will report you for dishing it out but not being able to take it. I didn’t make shit, I found this post, and found it hilarious, so I commented my related information. Hardly “payback action” lmao. Is it “payback action” to report on something someone said? Maybe don’t say it then and then nobody will say you did.
And it sure looks like OP was banned for having the audacity to speak against “Chef Cock” or “Ed Koch” or whatever your name is.
I report you for constantly calling me a prick and then justify it with the worlds - since they’re right -.
Your entire existence here on Lemmy is to troll others.
4 user poster once again, nothing to help or add except insulting others.
For a meaningful discussion it needs a balance between questions and answers. Hiding behind questions because you do not have answers (i.e. evidence) is rubbish IMO. Why post something if you have nothing to say?
Also, no one said anything about racist stereotypes… sorry to hear the image resonates with you.

That’s why you should read the post and comments and not base your opinions on a simplified screenshot. No need to be toxic.
Im sorry for saying that. I made the assumption that you were the original poster. Silly me.
