Interesting. It would also make sense that going full FOSS might lead to less social media use indirectly, since most social media apps would require micro-G

I’ve tested my local AI and it’s almost indistinguishable from humans in communication style
Why are AIs like ChatGTP so easy to spot then? Is it just the fine tuning?

What so you mean by ‘webs of trust’? Can you elaborate?

I have hope. There are ways to design the front-end that smooth over the technical aspects for non-technical users. The mastodon sign-up page is a good example of this.

We (Canada) have already started negotiating a free trade agreement with the South East Asian countries that are part of ASEAN, and more are in the works for South American countries (Mercosur) and India. One of our current Prime Minister’s main objectives is literally to just reduce our trade dependence on the US, and there is huge public support for that. The US will never again have the full trust of the Canadian people, not after how Trump has treated us. It’s unfortunate for you guys, but it’s the truth. I don’t think people in the US fully realize just how much their reputation has plummeted internationally.

That sounds badass I like it

Yeah. For better or worse you are correct. I used to be really feisty about this stuff back in the day, but never once have I managed to convince someone to go vegan by arguing with them.

In Canada we usually refer to you guys as “the States”

Yes. Also, what does this have to do with shrooms and weed?

You put an /s there but I can think of no other explanation for why an LLM might do this

As far as I can tell, Signal can’t do multiple text channels in the same way discord can. Migrating a Discord ‘server’ onto a Signal chat would only work if it were a small group. Anything bigger than that would basically just give you a really big and disorganized group chat (though it would at least be a private disorganized group chat).

Technically in the ad it was the children’s pet. So they’ve managed to do a two-in-one and hit both demographics
Throughout my daily use, I noticed something peculiar. I was using my phone less and less.
You’re not the first person I’ve heard say this after installing graphene OS. Why do you think this is? Is it just because you don’t have social media apps installed?

Matrix is better than IRC for most uses because it can save chat history but IRC can’t

They only scan for faces of known offenders based on previous entanglements.
How does the system know who’s an offender and who isn’t without scanning their face first?

Try piefed, one of its main draws is that it has more tools to deal with spam

According to a study Sharma published last week, in which he investigated how using AI chatbots could cause users to form a distorted perception of reality, he found “thousands” of these interactions that may produce these distortions “occur daily.”
This is interesting. I think it suggests that the AI psychosis problem is bigger than we realize. All we know of now is a few high profile cases, without any real stats on this issue. But Sharma seems to know enough to be disturbed by the scale of this issue. Anecdotally this matches my own experience, as I think I’ve come across at least one person suffering from it.
I suspect that AI psychosis will become widely acknowledged problem within the next decade, similar to how it’s now widely acknowledged that Instagram and TikTok can trigger eating disorders.
Stuff like this makes me very sympathetic to lemmy instances that disable downvotes
