Oh, now that is good news! It looks like the community has been quiet/mostly inactive for a while, but has 3x the subscriber count as that other community! I’ve subscribed, and I’ll see what I can do about helping to make it more active!
woohoo!
here for the good vibes!

Mods on the Star Trek communities on StarTrek.world will delete (and ban you) for even the slightest negative opinion about the show Star Trek Discovery. Even if you say that you dislike the show, or that you think the writing is sub-par, or anything slightly minor and inoffensive, poof! Your comment is gone, and you’re banned.
It’s not a rule in the sidebar, which is most frustrating, too. All you get is “not constructive”, even though there are plenty of complaints about other things, some pretty abrasive. But one unadoring word about Discovery, and you and your comment vanish without warning.
I see mastodon users here once in a while. kbin users, too!
CEO is a massive bigot. no way
Barriers to entry? Collecting data? Do you want testers or not?
It gains power by creeping in via democratic processes and slowly undermining them through manipulation and fear.
I saw the toot on mastodon. Did not re-toot.
It’s not so much that kombucha is revolting, which it is. It’s how it gets evangelized the way it does. That’s what really bothers me. Like, no, buddy, I don’t wanna try your nasty whatever it is tea. Stop asking.
how do you do this?
I died as I lived
i think i can swing $1.10 in MapleBucks
Edit: Seriously, though, I see what you mean. can you scale down? like, to, I dunno… 24 or 32 CPUs? What’s that price?
holy poopies, are you serious? that’s… that’s something. until, of course, they release their pricing scheme and convert you in the middle of the night.
still, though… how does that compare to AWS, or what are comparable service pricing schemes?
fascinating. what’s the monthly cost increase to go to 12 or 16 cpus? cuz that’s gonna happen, and I should set aside some cash for a donation.
well, what can be done to help with upgrades to this server? what does that entail?
I really like the GUI in Pop!_OS. It’s a custom GNOME installation with some sort of window tiling manager I don’t know what it’s called-- not sure what it’s called, but I adore it. I really like it, and I like their system themes, too. It’s very macOS-like. Simple, clean, and functional with a lot of little custom tweaks put in by system76 to cover some gaps in GNOME’s basic configuration and things that are missing from Ubuntu (Pop!_OS is an Ubuntu variant).
Others have mentioned Linus Mint with Cinnamon. I haven’t used it in several years, but I recall it being very nice and simple. It’s very Windows-like, which I’m not a fan of, but the interface was quite pretty, as I recall.
good and consistent moderation is important. a lot about what I didn’t like about reddit is that bad actors would creep into otherwise friendly places and be disruptive bullies. subreddit rules and site wide rules against that sort of thing, against hate-speech/racism/lgbtq-phobic remarks were ignored, and the the whole sub would be taken over by nazis because the mods never took action in the beginning to nip it in the bud.
now, a lot of reddit is crawling with really nasty people spewing disinformation, propaganda, and hate speech of every kind, and attempts to even report abuse will get you temp bans for “abuse of the report function”.
i’d also like to better understand how reporting works, and it’s not entirely clear to me from the documentation
Jeez, it’s not as if they’re collaborating with the Naz–ooohhh…
