It’s going to take generations to undo the damage Republicans/tRump/ICE are causing.
God, I hate this kind of news, it feels like it pops up every few months.
Germany issuing travel advisories is nothing newsworthy! They exist for basically every country (see https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/de/reiseundsicherheit/reise-und-sicherheitshinweise, German only) and are updated regularly. The only thing that would be noteworthy if the US suddenly appeared on the travel warnings page: https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/de/reiseundsicherheit/10-2-8reisewarnungen, on which the only surprising country is Japan, and the warning refers to the areas still affected by the Fukushima nuclear reactor accident.
As another example, Canada which is a very safe country, also has formally issued travel advisories: https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/de/service/laender/kanada-node/kanadasicherheit-204874 though they basically only say “don’t worry”. But issuing an advisory is not what people might think it is.
This is all true, but it might still be worth reporting that the most recent update of the travel advisories now lists two points under “current”: (1) the winter storm that currently affects some parts of the US and (2) the violence perpetrated by ICE and other immigration officials against protesters in Minneapolis.
They do because that’s factually correct. But is it worth reporting that a government website reflects events?
It would be news in my opinion if there was an actual message behind it. But since there’s no warning, not even partial, it doesn’t carry political weight – which in my think the headline implies (though the article makes it clear that it’s not).
Basically, the headline can be reduced to “German agency does its job”
To be fair, any government agency in any country actually doing its job is actually newsworthy.

I’m surprised it took this long
I’m sure the Romans were saying it would take generations to rebuild the empire, too.
Fair point in the long run, but Rome had cycles of ascendance, stagnation, decline, and rebirth. The Roman republic founded by Romulus and Remus was vastly different from the Rome that fought Carthage, which was vastly different from the Rome that unified with Egypt via marrying Cleopatra VII, which was vastly different from Constantine’s Rome.
Arguably the US is in a decline comparable to end of the Roman Republic before the rise of the Roman Empire.
Corruption, ineffective government, economic decline, domestic instability and yet a very large military.
Debatably Rome only fell once it lost its military might. Huge simplification I know. Lots of factors lead to Rome being weak enough to be sacked and losing control of its territories.
In last couple of days ads have been aired on TV in Australia promoting the disunited states as a fun holiday destination. We laughed as it aired (because of the awkwardly inappropriate message) about 15 minutes after another innocent has been shot by the american gestapo. You’d have to be mad to go to the du (disunited states) now if you are anything other than white male. Even then I suspect travel insurance will be reassessing premiums now that risks have escalated materially.
You’ll have to define what do you mean “white male”. I am pretty sure I’m not, given that my skin is not pale-white and my hair is black. And like me, so many south europeans are probably much less white than they think.
I was thinking of the nazi description of Aryan purity. So i sus pect southern europe wouldn’t count unless blue eyes, blond or light brown hair. Got to wonder what they are thinking. FIFA anyone?

Not according to my Norwegian brother-in-law; he thinks the world will go back to normal when America elects a democratic leader. He’s a dumb engineer who does not understand geopolitics.
It would be funny if it did, and then that period of normality lasted for precisely four years.
Guten Tag
Ja grüezi all miteinand!
Ah, yes. Trump administration making the U.S. even more of a pariah on the world stage every day.
