Why should I use some ruby program to manage packages instead of a compiled tool?

used it before, can be used to install things without admin privileges. but very time and space consuming.

I don’t use it. Between my distro’s package manager and flatpak, I don’t feel like I need it. If I were to try an additional package manager I’d probably use Nix.
With access to the AUR on Arch-based distros, I don’t have the need for it. Normally, I choose:
- Distribution package
- Flatpak
- AUR
- AppImage
I haven’t yet come across something which is available in homebrew but not in one of these options. I’d use it if I had a need. Currently, I haven’t needed to use any AppImages but have in the past when Flatpak has been slower to update for Ultimaker Cura.
