    Starting to lock in on some stuff. Pulled a 10/10 on my first exam.

    Young Dutch men are, to put in their own words, kinda cooked. It’s like a monkey rock at college. I don’t know why this country produces such dense and arrogant pricks. You especially notice this if you leave the country and move elsewhere. It has led me to just assume every single white guy I see here is by default a racist and homophobic douche. Maybe if they have like a mullet or a mustache that they can be an exception. The rest of them need some serious gulag time.

      I think the dougebagery is more of a pandemic. Your average Turkish person, regardless of age and gender, became objectively worse too. You cannot explain them basic concepts without acting like the most reactionary man of the history.

    So, I voted for the first time in my life. Every politician here sucks a lot, but at least I wasn’t apolitical for the 21st year of my life.

    Given that Bolsonaro might win in one way or another, I don’t know why the possibility of another military dictatorship in Brazil doesn’t scare me. Gave me some motivation, strangely enough. The terror must not have set in yet.

    Anyway currently reading Assata Shakur’s biography. She was funny; good sense of humor. The shit she went through was crazy and it sucks she had to end her life in exile.

    A lot of my friends have been moving out of the capital city where we all used to live, obviously due to the insane rents and them not being able to afford to live here anymore. I’m sad that they aren’t here anymore :(

    The movie “Once Upon a Time in the Middle East” looks very promising.

    As context, the movie portraits a Chinese chef as the protagonist that is dragged into the US invasion of Iraq and uses his tiny Chinese restaurant to protect civilians.

    Hope it reaches the movie theater in my country. I will finally have something good to look forward to instead of the usual US movie slop that comes to my country.

      I saw it two days ago in China. like it very much. but do not believe that it is a Comedy-Drama. there are some funny moments, but it very hard to watch (graphic scenes, death, murder,…)

      I think I would be actually because I don’t think those kind of people care enough about each other to fake his death and keep their mouths shut about it. Like what would be the point, from their point of view? If he were still alive, there’d be risk of him getting caught and then talking/leaking secrets to save his own hide. The more straightforward, gangster-state explanation is that he was too much in the crosshairs of the US legal system, pathetic as it is at stopping predators, and so somebody with lots of money (and there were loads tied to his name who could have been freaked out enough to do it) put a hit out on him to stop him from talking.

          I have not, but I doubt that would change anything for me. If the implication is supposed to be that the footage suggests a faked death, why would they let footage like that get out in the first place if they’re going to the trouble to conspire to fake a death.

            Same reason they released any of the epstein files. Its a mix of inter-bourgeoisie power struggles and giving people rabbit holes where they get lost in the dark instead of finding the light of Dialectical Materialism and Class Consciousness.

            Surely if he was the blackmail kingpin he would have had a dead mans trigger to release the most damning stuff he had. If he is dead why are the files only in the DOJ custody? Why are all the files so vague and only imply crimes without any solid evidence? Surely if he were dead the darkest blackmail would have been dumpped in multiple places.

              Well a thing like “he might still be alive” sounds like a rabbit hole to get lost in to me. Whether he’s dead or alive, he was only ever the tip of an iceberg. I mean, if we had a robust Prole Detective Agency and the means with which to bring people like him to justice, I’d say, leave no stone unturned, but the resources aren’t even there to properly investigate assassinations of BLM organizers. One thing we do know is Yankee power brokers sure love their assassinations. They’ve been doing it to sovereign leaders of countries for decades. Possibly including their own based on what one believes about the nature of JFK’s assassination.

              But faking a death to save somebody like Epstein? I don’t know, what precedent is there for that. I spose one could say “well it wouldn’t be out in the open if there was”, but like, what precedent is there for people having good reason to believe this is something the empire has done in the past? There’s plenty of precedent for assassination that’s known.

      Epstein was just the logistics guy. You can’t convince me that all these famous and powerful people who were there abusing children and women somehow stopped once Epstein died. They found another supplier, be it one or just multiple more spread out.

      If Epstein turned out to be alive it would have the same impact as if he were dead. The people complicit in this still walk among us and many of them still hold their positions of power. It doesn’t matter if they get their fix from Epstein or some other guy if there are no consequences.

    So I was finding some scary stuff to read for October and was recommended these books by Annie Jacobsen, Nuclear War: A Scenario and Biological War: A Scenario. As the title suggests, they’re not truly fiction, more just a description of scenarios.

    The nuclear war one started out well. It even talked about the meeting held in 1960 where the US government was casually planning how to first-strike the USSR and kill like 600 million people. So I was disappointed when I read a little further and the scenario (taking place in 2024 at the time of the book’s writing) involved North Korea just throwing a nuke at DC and California for literally no reason??? And then we get this crap which I suppose is supposed to justify this preposterous premise:

    Basically every offensive North Korea evil trope rolled into one. A quick ctrl+F through the rest of the book reveals all sorts of other whacky shit:

    Um this is a new one lol. Reminds me of that person on tumblr who claimed Mao made his wife “piss for days”. Seriously though how do you actually publish this in a book you wrote without getting embarrassed???

    You heard it here first guys, Kim Jong-Un keeps a pocket-sized tunneling machine on his person at all times to Bugs Bunny himself to safety.

    Speaking of boring, I will not be finishing this book lol. It’s pretty dull beyond the genuinely scary details of nuclear detonations with far too much tedious information that reads like a boring wikipedia entry. Curiously, all the stuff about the tech and nuclear policy is rigorously sourced, sometimes with interviews even, but the North Korea Bad shit is just from the usual suspects: NBC, AP, ““dissidents””, etc. The biological war one features pneumonic plague with Russia being the culprit (the evil soviets invented it in this scenario, obviously). Weird coincidence that I picked it up the day before the news broke about the case in Russia…

    So now I moved on to The Body Snatchers by Jack Finney and have been having a great time lol. Anybody have any scary reading suggestions for this month?

      Its funny how Scientists can insist on solid evidence and make sure to highlight every possible margin of error in their field but when it comes to political economy and history they are more than willing to just accept wild irrational beliefs.

      Like if someone in their field publishes a paper that has a premise that aligns with their own research they will pick it apart with a fine toothed comb, but if a propaganda outlet says that “bad country” is doing something irrational without cause, they will just go right along with it. They’ll even say “that’s insane I can’t believe anyone would do that” and yet they will just believe that it is happening.

        Someone can propose the Bicameral Mind hypothesis[1] or the Many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics[2] and not be laughed out of the room.

          Psychologists are the one profession where you need shit nothing other than morals and ethics forged by bourgeois ideas. Not to say they don’t offer anything or that all is bullshit, but most of it is made to rehabilitate workers to continue doing their labor for society, and most psychologists will follow an idealistic world view and even push religious insanity to their patients. Psychiatrists on the other hand are actually trying to follow a scientific world view approach for sadly the same end goal, but they are much less tolerant towards idealistic world views and religious fanaticism. That ofc is my experience with these practitioners and Doctors plus my research on the topic
