[alt text: a screenshot of a tweet by @no_goblins. The tweet says: “Ladies if you go to a man’s house and the only games he has are COD and 2k DON’T SLEEP WITH HIM! You deserve someone who plays open world RPGs”.]
You know why she’s not sleeping with Silksong players right
I killed several really well going conversations in the past by mentioning that one of my hobbies is to play racing games with my plastic toywheel.
Like dont get wrong i’m fully aware that its not a sexy hobby. But if thats enough to tank an otherwise well going conversation for you then i’m not interested either way.
does it have pedals and stuff like an arcade
racing sims are a sexy hobby, that shit ain’t cheap up front and also it’s legitimately a good experience
oh I’m sorry I have a hobby that doesn’t require ongoing expenses, takes up little space, and feeds me adrenaline. you’re right that if that is enough to tank a convo then byeee
of all the things to be a dealbreaker, playing video games is… lol. not the kind of person you want to be around. odds are they watch brainrot tiktok and reality TV, right?
racing sims
oh I’m sorry I have a hobby that doesn’t require ongoing expenses
Sim racing is one of the most expensive video game related hobbies out there.
Ask me how I know.🤣 Jokes aside though, if you’re not competing in iRacing and you’re happy with a decent but entry-level/intermediate wheel its not so bad. It’s not hard to blow 10k real fast if you want to though!
Sure, but even so: that hardware isn’t going to be obsolete or wear out for a long time.
Compared with going to a concert that can be $10K for 2 people to attend a single show.
I have to wonder if they’d be more interested if you’d said you fly a space ship with a HOTAS (as in Elite Dangerous).
„I like playing with my stick“
yeah yeah we all do, pancake, but you need more things to talk about on a date!
I got really into elite dangerous at one point. I never got a HOTAS though, but I’d considered it.
How is the game these days?
I wouldn’t know! I’m currently exploring the black, and that hasn’t changed much! I think it’s had some improvements, though, since Horizons. They maybe added a new ship…? Still one of the best space flight sims.
On the other side of the coin, No Man’s Sky added walkable ship interiors to their new Corvette class ships, so they’ve basically added everything Star Citizen promised, just with more cartoonish graphics. Either are still great choices for scratching that space exploration itch.
I’ve tried no mans sky a few times and couldn’t get into it.
I never grinded enough to get an anaconda, but I did make a few first discoveries while jumping around.
I think my ship is so far out that every time I play, I get bored trying to jump to anywhere relevant.
Talk to them about vr and theyll want to come over and try it usually
it’s a fat hassle tho and its prob more common now, also youll look stupid lol
Ewww open world. That’s as basic as it gets.
If he has Disco Elysium ask him who his favorite character is to gauge whether he is marriage material.
(Hint: The right answer is Kim.)
Who’s your BG3 baddie
Would you accept cuno
When I played this game, my wife was overhearing the dialog and asked me what movie I was watching.
She then later commented how annoying Cuno was.
Cuno don’t fucking care, if you find Cuno annoying.
Hardcore!
“Measurehead. Also, hold on while I get my calipers.”
What if I answer The Noid?
COD is a roleplaying game! I roleplay as a stormtrooper that can’t hit shit! I’m pretty good at it
Man… I know SO MANY GUYS who would get butthurt by this post. Hahahahahahaha
Bunch of basic bros.
go touch some grass bruh
I don’t get why you’re telling me this.
I only sleep with The Wonderful 101 fans 😎
While I get the stereotype you’re talking about, I feel like this is a bit mean. Idk. Maybe I’m a bit biased because my stepbrother is basically a halo only type of gamer, but he’s also a decent human being.
Similarly I’m not gonna shit on my old roommate, who basically only played the sims.
I hate the Sims cause my sims always end up living a better life than me.
Your stepbrother’s judgement depends on which Halo he plays, he still has a chance
Which Fallout game?
For me, the intro to Fallout 4 always gets that frisson going.
Fallout 4: Flaccid
Fallout 3: Chubs
Fallout New Vegas: Half-Mast
Fallout 1 or 2: BoioioioioioingIf they tell you they watched the Fallout TV series, what you really need to know is how often they paused it.
Fallout Tactics: Not your proudest
Fallout 76: Lorena Bobbit
Fallout:Brotherhood of Steel…
a double-entendre all on its own!
(also don’t date guys that seem to play certain games performatively like they saw this post and went out to match it) (a friend dated a guy that brought a modded gameboy to social functions and played it sometimes but he never really talked about gaming and i’m pretty sure the gameboy was more about the aesthetic for him than actually playing games)
I like to play mmos, arpgs, and chess. Should my girlfriend run? (joke)
MMOs? You’re a lost cause, sorry.
(Unless she also likes MMOs, then you’re meant for each other)
(Also, /s ofc, but remember to take breaks to spend time together)
(Unless she also likes MMOs, then you’re meant for each other)
My friend’s brother and brother’s wife play WoW together. They have their living room set up so they can play side by side. It’s nice they have a fun hobby they do together. (They also engage with real life, but they live far away so I rarely personally see them)
Couples who play MMOs together have that kinkiest sex lives. There, I said it.
If only…
(Mabinogi couple)
We did this for a while, but now it’s hard to find the time and harder to justify the price.
Instead, we find coop games to play on the couch with Steam Decks (unless she’s busy playing Silksong).
Nice to be able to play a few rounds of Unrailed before bed
I’ve always refused to pay a subscription, so I relate to that. I’m a big fan of Guild Wars (1 and 2) for not having one, and not having a power treadmill. It’s nice to hop in after a while away and still be competitive.
I did get an old partner to play Path of Exile for a while. We still laugh about how that was kind of an anomaly - they don’t normally like that sort of game at all, but somehow we spent like 2 months hammering on it together.
Always looking for good couch co-op. My current person isn’t much of a video games person, but Cat Quest II has been good fun so far. The Binding of Isaac was a little too much for them.
If you haven’t tried It takes two or split fiction, I highly recommend them. My boyfriend and I played through both and enjoyed them immensely.
Yes, straight into your spindly little arms
Literally any suggestion of a type of guy who isn’t a basic bro will be followed by a suggestion that they’re performative within days if not hours
Multiplayer competitive games are a huge red flag for everyone.
That’s why I still leave up the OG RuneScape login page on my monitor.
What is 2k, other than a game publisher?
I figured it meant like all the sports games with 2K in the title like NBA 2K6 or NHL 2K6 and their modern iterarions (e.g. NBA 2K25)
Ah, so FIFA but for Americans?
Would it blow your mind if I told you all the 2K sports games were released by 2K? 😁
Not all of them. NHL 2K-2K5 were released by Sega before the franchise was bought by 2K.
💯%
okay that makes a lot more sense than running from somebody who plays Borderlands
My most played games are Civilization 1 - 7 and XCom games and they are published by 2K. I didn’t know that I am somehow inferior to someone playing RPGs.
Only game installed on laptop: OpenMW.
(Ok ok I have an NES and an OG xbox with select titles and a GBC with a flash cart and every game for the GB/C too.)
OpenMW
Hears the cries of cliff racers
But is Tamriel Rebuilt installed?
Is what?
Oh boy do I have a surprise for you…
Oh shit this looks cool, I’ll have to check it out! Thanks!
