    Why focusing on meritocracy to produce a better result, when you can politicize technologies and focus on people feelings, sexuality, propaganda, that sure will help to select the best engineers.

      Because to claim that real world systems come even close to being a meritocracy is an illusion. You can’t fix systemic inequalities and discrimination without, well, addressing them.

      Baffling that the suggestion that maybe minorities being harassed/made to feel unsafe in the workplace might influence their performance and therefore the quality of open source software is so controversial.

      Let me guess, you’re a white dude. We have the luxury of being able to ignore “politics”. For other people their existence is a political question and affects every aspect of their life. Maybe we should do something about that. But what do I know I’m just a snowflake who is offended by everything, right?
