What I like the most about DDG is the bangs. Is there any other search engine with something similar?
Qwant has it: https://help.qwant.com/help/qwant-search/searching/how-use-qwick/
Ecosia as well: https://ecosia.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201657321-What-are-search-tags-
Thank you! Ecosia seems to have only very few and most of those I don’t need. Qwant seems to have a lot more, but is still missing those I use most often with DDG, for example Python library documentation like !numpy or !mpl.
Regarding Qwant, you can suggest them to add it, there’s a link to a form on the page.
Cool, I’ll do that and play a bit around with Qwant. Maybe, I change defaults then. :)
Short update: I switched to Qwant. Great website! Thank you very much!
Cool. There’s also lite.qwant.com if you’re out and about on your phone and low on data, or just want a faster experience. You’re welcome.
Neat, thanks! :)
Check out metager.org
metaGer looks cool, but does it really support something similar to DDG’s bangs? I don’t find anything about that.
also DuckDuckgo has the best IU imo, better than any other search engine I’ve used.
I like the ddg bangs too but I’m weaning myself off them, instead using keywords in Firefox. It’s really easy: just right-click (ctrl-click on Mac?) on a search field then select “Add keyword for this search”.
Especially since they started removing (censoring…?) bangs for the likes of Sci-Hub and torrent sites, and since I got thinking that perhaps they don’t need to know a history of all my searches on all the websites.

The thing is that I use that bangs not only on my laptop but also on my phone with KISS launcher.
