Hey all, I think it’s unfair for me to be the only moderator (plus the admins!).
I was trying to find some good candidates and I certainly found many, but I think it’s much more fair to open the floor for nominations.
Some groundrules so this goes smoothly:
- You are allowed to nominate unlimited people, including yourself
- You must make each nomination in a separate comment
- Please ensure the user in question has not yet been nominated, if they have please upvote the existing nomination and maybe leave a comment in support instead!
This is somewhat of a popularity contest, although note I do not promise the most popular candidates will be the ones selected.
This post will be updated when mods are appointed with the logic behind appointment.
@mekhos@lemmy.ml has been appointed. This is because
- Overwhelming support
- 7 hour timezone difference (if I did the math correctly)
- I needed one more, I see tmpod around often
The curse of the zombie hot posts strikes again!
Hold on. This is season 2! There’s 6 more seasons to go!
🎶8 seasons and a movie!🎶
I nominate me, why?
- I’ve reported dozens of troll posts.
- I’m online multiple times per day.
- No agenda or power-trip attitude.
- Promote discussion, playful humour, helping answer questions or direct to sources of info.
- Not hugely political but center-left values.
- UTC +12 timezone
you have my support 👍
Convincing points! VOTE MEKHOS
Is center left allowed here? I’m pretty left leaning but I feel below average here.
Well if not being “left enough” is an issue/flaw I’d retract my nomination.
I would hope my own politics is fairly insignificant (as long as its not RW) and more important is cleaning up spam, keeping threads on topic, and facilitating positive, healthy community.
Yeah I’m certainly trying to abstain from bringing politics into moderation. Do you agree to a reasonable (human rights are not political, don’t offend people, no conspiracies) extent?
I have decided that you are to gay to be a mod
U is f@get so you would be good mod
I’d clearly be a great mod.
lol post is from 1 year ago
I mean the ground in rules didn’t state any time limitation
I nominate Jesus.
No not me, the real Jesus.
He’s like a world mod. Just skipped Lemmy. Just world.
I hear he doesn’t really think much of his father’s moderation policies and he might be looking for social media alternatives
Will the real Jesus Christ please stand up?
Could i be mod … considering i can go for months without visiting lemmy ?
Edit : @Gabe@lemmy.ml moderator of asklemmy, account’s is (test) “dead”.
Also dead accounts (mod’s) :
@Joe@lemmy.ml (Rust prog.) @Restioson@lemmy.ml since 2yrs
@test42@lemmy.ml SportStreams
@pojntfx@lemmy.ml Anarchism
@dharmatech@lemmy.ml PowerShell
@mlsuyt@lemmy.ml cryptocurrency
@nondescript_person@lemmy.ml …
@jenniferwhite@lemmy.ml . .
@anprim@lemmy.ml .
…!green@lemmy.ml 's 2of3 mods : @theloneforager@lemmy.ml & @Chloe@lemmy.mlGood digging! I wonder if its a good to remove or tag dead accounts like @Joe(archived)@lemmy.ml because you don’t really want users sending messages off to dead accounts and waiting for a reply that never comes.
i agree and also :
Moderators status should be revoked after 1 year of inactivity !
Are moderators able to resign ?
If someone wants their communities, they can do a request on !community_requests@lemmy.ml
Are moderators able to resign ?
Should they be revoked after 1 year of inactivity ?The top mod can transfer a community to anyone they want, but there’s not a way to resign currently unless another mod removes you.
Clean(?) “way to resign” at worst :
“another mod (who) removes you” will be a sockpuppet-mod of the moderator wanting to resign. Credentials of the sockpuppet would be sent to another moderator and admin. Lastly, sockpuppet account would be closed after a pre-established 2 months.
