Here's a straight answer:
YES, we're excited to announce that an Android version of Thunderbird is coming!

You either have fairmail, k9mail or the stock Android one
And i find the first two too convulated… And the latter is a bit limited.
What makes you think Thunderbird mobile will be any less convoluted? Just look at the desktop version 😅
