My friend wanted to install a newer version of Windows on their old laptop and I suggested they use Linux instead. I showed them Pop!_OS and Linux Mint out of which they chose Linux Mint.
I thought they would be reluctant to using Linux, but they actually liked it a bit more than Windows! :FeelsGoodMan:
While they aren’t really interested too much in digging deep into the Linux “ecosystem”, I think it’s still much better than just using Windows.
Just thought I’d share this here. Let me know how your experiences have been in trying to get other people to switch to Linux.
I’ve found that people are generally ok as long as you just install for them. As long as they can sign in and open up a web browser, most people don’t need much more.
Awesome!
Congrats to you both. I have not switched people successfully because they are not as tech savvy and have no clue what I am talking about :)
Awesome! I remember that one was my first as well.
Yeah switching to Linux is good, but the main issue that’s stopping me from switching is the gaming compatibility. Which I know some games work, but really its just not worth the effort for me to actually sit there and check each game if it works and if it doesn’t work
https://www.protondb.com/ pretty much solves that. And except for some anti-cheat system related issues, most games work fine on Linux these days.
yeah that’s my main issue the anti-cheat system, as I want to play games that use that.
Check this out. It won’t help if game has VM detection but still.
