I know, I know, but I can’t tell them to move or do anything, because I have to have Messenger because education stuff (school). I did not find yet any FB Messenger clients, only Frost, but I can’t use it for messaging. Can anybody help?
This uses Matrix bridging and is open source https://www.beeper.com
Looks like a pidgin for mobile! Cool
This is too awesome to be true 😮
I’m trying it immediately! THANKS!!
It looks very cool imho. If you care a whole lot about privacy and your rights, make sure to go through their TOS and PP. I do hope that self hosting will become much easier in the future so that more people can use such interesting solutions.
It costs money though
Yes! But the OP seemed kind of desperate and self hosting Matrix server with a FB bridge also costs money, and time and needs some skills.
yep yep it does
“Thanks for signing up for Beeper! We have had a record number of people interested in using Beeper. Our focus is on providing the best possible chat experience for our users. In practice this means that we are working our way through the list one-by-one and on-boarding users as fast as possible. You are safely in line and we will keep you updated as we progress through the list.”
How does it work??? Didn’t understand
Beeper works with Matrix bridges. The Matrix protocol is afaik designed with the idea to be able to talk to all kind of other protocols (hence the name Matrix probably). For example Matrix-IRC bridges have existed for a few years now I think.

Your request it’s a tough one haha. Keep in mind that Facebook also banned some users for using third party clients, it didn’t happens to every users, but sometimes happened. So, on android , a good idea would be isolate Facebook messenger in a secondary user. I don’t know if there is a web version of Facebook messenger for mobile. If there was, you could add the website to your homescreen and use it as application.
@ajz suggested beeper which seems a valid choice, though is a paid subscription service with a $10 monthly fee. However, you can also use basically every other messengers within only one application.
+1 I would set Fb messenger inside shelter.
Shelter is not compatible with my current Android OS.
I use Frost and have no issues with the messenger part
For me it’s not working
btw From the Matrix hosting page this one looks pretty cool to me : https://etke.cc/ They offer self-hosting install help and then they would do maintenance, with the option of Matrix bridging, e.g. to FB messenger.
There’s caprine, for desktop
I need it for mobile asap, but thanks!!
