I am not spoofing my user agent and I’m going to continue using FOSS front-ends to access YouTube until an alternative takes off. Fuck you Google.
Lemmy v0.19 will have this feature
RSS is amazing. Recently started using it with the Nextcloud News app. Turns out I’ve really been missing out on the possibilities.
How it feels to never have had anyone in my life that I could just randomly call up and talk about happy and sad things with.
A unifed global language is one of the characteristics of a type 1 civilization and right now English happens to be in a position to become that language. But whether or not English is the optimal option is a whole different can of worms. Since language and culture are so intertwined, the idea of the cultures, beliefs, and “mindsets” of entire groups of people being slowly erased, dominated, and assimilated by the anglosphere mind is a concerning long term problem. You lose out on potentially beautiful things only people of that culture and “mind” are capable of creating/conceiving or nurturing. Also America’s dominance of cultural exports is insane.
Nyarch Linux
It’s probably trying to get you to fuck yourself
I enjoy using this with my own LibreTranslate instance
Based on my own privacy/security criteria, I chose and payed for protonmail when that was the only thing Proton had. I’ve been very happy with them and it’s nice to see how much they’ve since popped off.
Jeroba because it’s dev made and it was like the only one when I got on Lemmy. And it’s actually good. Recently started using Eternity as well because I was using Infinity as my main client for reddit.
Oh nooooo who could have seen this coming… anyway continues using Lemmy
Everything I want to play runs on Linux and the couple that don’t are because of EAC, which I can’t be bothered with. I’ve completely cut Windows out of my life.
Tbh for me the third party client thing was just the cherry on top of the constant barrage of corpo fuckery in general, plus the knowledge of reddit’s IPO and inevitable decline with the way things were headed for a while.
I’m already balls deep in FOSS and started dipping my toes into the fediverse as a whole, so switching off Reddit for me didn’t hurt in the slightest. It felt good. All spez did was give me the reason I was looking for to finally pull the trigger.
I did that as a beginner a few times but now I’m able to resolve everything I need to with the good old terminal.
That’s still good practice but first party cookies aren’t exactly trustworthy either. IMO, best to whitelist what you trust and use, permablock what you don’t, and auto-wipe the rest.
Data hoarding and self-hosting every service under the sun.
Pretty much. Welcome to the fucking future I guess. There’s no flying cars and green cities and happiness or bloody universal healthcare, instead we have corpos trying to turn us into their consumer slaves and governments turning authoritarian. Just do what you’re told and buy more. Don’t ask questions don’t think just browse TikTok, improve your social credit score, and imprint more ads into your psyche until WW3.
We’re walking into hell with our eyes wide open fuck me it hurts.
