I wish there was a project like this for old Unix DEs rather than Microsoft Windows.
There are some remakes of old linux themes over at the B00merang project website https://b00merang.weebly.com/desktop-themes.html . Probably not what you had in mind though.
CDE is still available and looking as sharp as ever.
It looks disgusting, exactly like the original. I love it!
