New drug going around: adjusting the automatic seat in your car.

I tell you, it’s an epidemic out there! It’s destroying lives and tearing apart families and relationships. People are selling all their positions, stealing, mugging, what have you, just to buy powered car seats. I once witnessed a young man overdose on seat adjustment, it’ll haunt me forever.

It could be that the motor is borderline undersized to keep weight of the vehicle low and on a hot day lots of use overheats the motor.

However limiting use with a software lockout is pretty lazy engineering. If Tesla is as amazing as the dudebro’s say surely they can make electric seats that work at least as well as the 30 other brands right?

    i found a source … quote :
Based on a review of the source code by hacker @greentheonly, the automaker recently added “seat abuse” metrics. According to green, if you move the seat too much, messages will pop up on the display, like (such as) “Excessive use of seat track motor detected,” and “Seat track motor unavailable due to excessive use.”

What I’ve heard about Model 3s is that they have a lot of defects. They’re attempting to fix with software…maybe not the right fix, but if it helps them continue to produce vehicles that provide enough other benefits it could be a net positive.

It might be, but limit is not like “you have one move per week” but to stop someone from using the seat as a toy. Maybe just constat move for over an hour will trigger the message.

If only we could hear from manufacturer about stuff like this and have explanation.
