I won’t lie. I’m not sure if Brave Search will deserve my trust. It looks good, it’s open source and they say it is “private”. I’m not sure if that is enough for me. I mean, how can we ensure they are actually not using a modified version of their search engine instead of the public one? I know that concern also applies to other webpages, however, seems to me Brave’s privacy principles are more a marketing strategy rather than a serious objective of their project.
Nonotheless, I guess I will test it and see how it goes. It’s “open source” in the end, although I already shared my concerns earlier.
To make sure. I did read the “Not at the moment.” part.
Yeah, I’d rather use lots of random SearX instances than put my data into the hands of one (US) company.
I have more confidence about a random SearX instance than Brave.
Where is the source code?
I mean, it is not in https://github.com/brave/
“All the private search engines include advertisements to make money”
what a fucking lie
Someone send me the following link about Brave last days: https://ebin.city/~werwolf/posts/brave-is-shit/
I think that should not be uninteresting for the reputation of the search engine.https://www.qwant.com/ is great European search engine
