I wish it worked like that, but most people around me, though a little aware, couldn’t bother switching. Some for good reasons too.

Dear Lord, what’s next? That verification can meme? Windows is frustrating enough without these ridiculous hardware requirements.

My webcam of the laptop works, but is covered with a piece of duct tape.

Employee: Ok guys, what should we do in terms of hardware requirements?

    Bill Gates: What about webcams?

    Employee: What about em?

Bill Gates: They they should be required.

    Employee: Why?

Bill Gates, his 2 inch cock growing under the table: It makes perfect sense. They should be on at all times.

Employee: What good would that do for windows?

Bill Gates: I’m not saying it’ll do anything for Windows.

Bill Gates, now throbbing hard: What I’m saying, is that some people just need to be watched.

** Employee:** Sir, I’m not sure we can do that.

** Bill Gates, more erect than he’s ever been in his life:** What’s wrong? I just want to watch them.

** Bill gates:** They’ll go about their business, not a care in the world, as I sit there and observe.

Employee: Mister Gates, you cannot be serious.

** Bill Gates, as his voice falls to a faint whisper while he shoots his load:** Please, make it a requirement. I just want to look at them.

And so, Webcams were made a hardware requirement.

Common mistake, Bill Gates is only the co-founder of MS, and since 2000 he has not been on the board of this company, he was replaced until 2014 by Steve Ballner and then until today MS is chaired by Satya Nadella. Gates is occupied with his wife in a Foundation for philantropic projects (ecologism, medical, etc.) . Nothing to do with what MS is doing currently. He has donated half of his assets to humanitarian projects, leaving himself the richest man in the world for this (ok, he has not been left in poverty for this either). The greedy people in MS are others since a lot of years.

Possible, although there are worse, anyway it hasn’t painted anything in MS for many years, it hasn’t been responsible for anything they have done for almost 10 years. He can be blamed for the crap out of Windows he put out back then, but which was nonetheless a hell of a lot less intrusive than later versions. Something similar as with Google of the pre- and post ‘Don’t be evil’

I hope we don’t see a new clusterfuck of editions like Vista and to a lesser extent 7. I wonder if this will be a requirement for the “privilege” of having Windows 11 S-Mode. The “S” version already feels like it might as well be known as “Windows 11 Laptop/Tablet”.

I hope we do, and that more and more people get tired of Microsoft’s shit and end up jumping ship.

Where I live, more and more shops are selling the PC without OS, only with FreeDOS and make it optional to install the OS you want.

And PC without OS are a lot cheaper (with Win +~€100, with Linux, if you don’t do it yourself + some € for the CD and the service)

Monopolies have the tendency to abuse. I only hope that one day it is possible to ban surveillance techniques, this would be the only way to rip the teeth out of these molochs, because this is the real underlying problem of all this, lot of resources to profile and track the users. Privacy is a human right and violated by these companies. You buy a PC with a lot of money, with Wndows, because other soft companies and neded drivers and codecs only are for this OS and you see that with all the money you have spent, the OS isn’t yours and above they say what you can do and what not Or you spent days in the guts of this OS, to get rid of all this crap and trash “to improve the user experience”, at the risk of breaking it, to get what it should be, an OS without more, that works as it should.

I think the article is a bit misleading, these requirements are targeted to OEMs, it means that they can’t sell a laptop with Windows 11 preinstalled if it does not have a webcam.

Fortunately, real time deepfakes are possible; like capturing the webcam data and then sending it to the deepfake program.

I mean sure but wouldn’t that require running Windows in a VM or giving out the original webcam feed?
