You need to know that there are people who see a ad saying your computer his broken and believe it is true and call to that scamm number, thats why google is enforcing shi* without penalization but if everyone know what they doing they will be penalized

I think it’s hilarious that this phrase was included as a sort of half-joke because it would be really hard to justify removing it… and then later it was removed anyway.

I’d probably use Fennec if there was a Nightly version

Fennec F-Droid is based on the latest Firefox release (codenamed Fenix). It has proprietary bits and telemetry removed, but still connects to various Mozilla and Google services that can track users.

The alternative is IceCat but the build in F-Droid hasn’t been updated for a long time now. I was trying to build it but was stuck in dependency hell and figuring out how to use those build scripts, and how to install F-Droid build system

also that block is extremely easy to bypass. just go in the play store and turn off “play protect” and it will install normally. not disagreeing with OPs disgust, just stating the workaround

This is a warning for those who think root is dangerous for your phone (non senses)

Well root isn’t great for security, it’s true. Someone who is less aware of the potential security problems of having root access probably shouldn’t have it on their primary device. (I don’t tell people what to do with their phones, just my humble suggestion.) You can use a ROM that makes F-Droid a privileged installer, though, which is nice.

I really wish the root permissions system on Magisk involved entering your password instead of just a yes/no prompt, and that there was an option to never remember your permissions and just ask every single time, like how it works with Sudo in Linux.

This might be a random question, but is this considerred a ’dark pattern’? i.e. that clicking the big green button stops you from installing the app and Google designs it this way so that users who aren’t paying attention will click the highlighted button and cancel the install?
