Not really. Shitty political climate in India. Unemployed since I’ve graduated, suffering from a medical condition, but I’ve not told my parents as I don’t want to stress them out. And yeah, poor mental health. Feels like I didn’t learn any shit from my crappy, tier-3 university. Just handed over a fucking useless paper they call a degree. Also losing my mane in my early 20s, does that count?

I was planning to learn C23 for quite some time. It’s a pity that I’ve been planning to learn RISC-V with it, sigh. I guess I’m gonna move over to Rust or Zig, whichever makes sense. But I’d probably switch, when Vale becomes a legit language.

Nah, too old school. I’d recommend Fissioneral. Want to shred your entire existence and generate energy for three generations of your descendants? It uses the same technology as the sun! Give us a call!

Linux@lemmy.ml•Redox OS - an OS built entirely out of RustEnglish
2·3 years agoI should have framed my words better, I guess. Rust is a radically different language, and honestly, none of the feature it offers fixes the main issue, that is technical debt - I mean yes, there’s incline C or FFI, but that’s still going to be a radical migration.
What I’m trying to propose is an alternative project, independent from the ISO. Maybe it could be a C-to-Rust, or a C-to-Vale migration project. It could be any of the modern language, I don’t really care. But that particular compiler/transpiler/migrationpiler/-piler should have the ability to do step-by-step migration.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is the country you are from more of a 'Hugger' or a 'formal Handshake' kind of culture when it comes to greeting each other?
5·3 years agoBrofist and other similar greetings amongst us Gen-Z and Gen-Y folks in casual and semi-formal setting.
Handshake in formal settings, also the preferred greeting by boomers.
Hugs when there’s loved ones.
In conservative setting, there’s this tradition of touching the feets of our elder.
Kisses on cheeks is reserved between the socialites and celebrity-type folks.

1·3 years agoWith the exception of !india@lemmy.ml, the rest of them are all probably dead.
But what is wrong with C and C++ apart from the ISO fuck-up (ahem, slow updates)? There’s a lot of technical debt, so wouldn’t it be better to create an alt-language compiler that adds improvement over C, so that migration is possible in multiple stages?
Something like:
- Fix shitty imports
- Improve syntax rule
- Improve memory management
- Other new misc features

3·3 years agoThank you for this. I think you probably forgot these ones:
-
@ParvezShah786@lemmy.ml - their intent towards creating a community with a derogatory name is why I think they should be removed - Endia and Porkistan are derogatory words thrown around by extremist and far-right groups from respective countries.
-
@poputchik@lemmy.ml looks like a raita to me. If you see carefully, they’re crafty around their hate for Muslim folks - like for example, this one, or that one. Or posts like this or that.
Also !bharat@lemmy.ml is another redundant community - !india@lemmy.ml already does that job well.

5·3 years agoThank you for adding a link to how r/bakchodi (fuck u/spez) was created, but I think it’s missing some important details. Somewhere over r/librandu (fuck u/spez) is an archive about the same. Stealing it shamelessly from a deleted Reddit (fuck u/spez) user:
Bakchodi was initially created as an Indian circlejerk sub way before the others. It was a time when randia had a modi fetish (ikr). But then after randia turned against their overlords and established military junta, fleeing refugee proto-chodes joined bakchodi to protest against the dictatorship at India’s official sub. This continued for a few years but then a based mod and officer of the internet did an Order 66 and purged them all leaving them to create the infestation of roaches known as r/chodi
Too bad, but looks like r/bakchodi (fuck u/spez) has also gone to shit.

2112·3 years ago“Hmphhh”, breathing heavily, one of your half-informed brethren approaches you. In front of you is a bizzare creature that spends day and night modding his kawaii, unproportionally large breasted and rainbow-eyed waifu desktop. On one hand is his aformentioned waifu pillow stained with, let’s not talk about that. On his legs are two large stocking-like socks, no pants and a shirt that says “I ❤️ Poettering”
“Akshually…”, and as he says that, you can hear the velled up mucus, ready to launch itself upon further tickle to the nose. Quickly, you hand this poor lad a box of tissue. Nodding his head, as to be grateful for your act of kindness, he empties all the air out of his lungs. “That’s a lot you’re holding in there”, you silently whisper.
“…As I was saying, systemd is not an init system, it is more than that”, smirks this weird man. As you try to process all of that, to your horror, you realise that you’re speaking to a modder, or as they call it in politically incorrect terms, a ricer. One of those people you’ve never wanted to meet in real life.
“But I do care about security, and the attack surface is now pretty larg…”, you say, to which the man interrupts, “Linux does not have any viruses, s…stop spreading FUD…banned, 1 day”. The last part doesn’t make a lot of sense, but you assume that he’s pretending this conversation to be on a forum, and he is a “moderator”.
“I do care about the basic UNIX philosophy, which is modulari…”, again, to which this gentleman in front of you interrupts, “If you want modularity, then start from making a micro-kernel. Banned, 5 days”, he scoffs and laughs at you.
“But Poettering left a mess behind that is Linux audio, atd you trust that guy? Also systemd is not as fast as he claims to be, how can y…”
“SHUTTTT UPPPP! IF YYOU THINK SOMEONE IS NOT GOOD WITH THEIR SKILLS, THEN MAKE ONE YOURSELF! POETTERING LETS ME CUSTOMIZE WAIFU DESKTOP WITH EASE, STOP ATTACKING LENNA-SENPAI! BANNED, 30 DAYS!”.
“Akshually…”, you mumur, as you leave the room, but the man heard you clearly. “…I am a big fan of Scheme, so I learnt Guile. Now I use GNU Shepherd”, you say, as you close the door behind.
“ARRRRRRRR! BANNED, 2 MONTHS! BANNED, 3 MONTHS! ARRRRRRR!”, you hear the noise behind, content that you’re not one the one following the herds to the cliff.
ActivityPub integration. GitLab and Forgejo/Gitea may be able to bridge with Lemmy. It could look like communities on Lemmy, something like: _@. Suggestion can go into “Issues” for now, although I hope that Forgejo brings in a dedicated “Discussions” tab, or it will be a nightmare having to close multiple issues being spammed.

The word “literally”. I know what it means, but I blame this on stereotypical mean girls in coming-of-age teen American movies. Also the word “apo-calypse”. I used to say “apoly-capse”.
