Anyone else feel that the ads load way faster with less buffering than the actual videos?

The ads are probably cached on the device from the first load. So that’ll explain why

Ads load faster with almost no buffering/stuttering while the actual video’s network connection is trash.

not very weird most likely, considering that there are significantly fewer ads and they’re much shorter in length than videos, therefore it makes sense to cache them in some way 🤷‍♀️

Use the front-end Piped, it block ads, restrictions, jumps sponsor blocks and even intros, or use uBlock Origin

No such problems here, update the filters, maybe it solve the problem, Anyway, using Piped all of this crap is blocked.

Sponsor blocks carry a signal encoded in the video, through the googlevideoAPI, to allow YouTube Premium users to skip them. This is intercepted by Piped and by extensions like SponsorBlock, while other front ends, like instances of Invidious, which are based on the googlevideoAPI, block ads, but cannot do so with sponsorblocks.

It seems very good to me, you mean how the extension works and I talk about how the sponsor blocks are inserted in the video with a code, that the extension or Piped has in its base to intercept it.

I too am waiting for Invidious integration in NewPipe, not really because I don’t like the Invidious UI/UX but because I have a bug (only on mobile data, not WiFi, and only on Invidious, not on NewPipe or the YouTube webapp) where the video stops loading after a while and I have to refresh the page (and the playback doesn’t even resume at the point it stopped :c). So right now, Invidious on my smartphone is not really pleasant, it could be better.

interestingly, the youtube app on my phone doesn’t have ads at all (as of recently), most likely because companies don’t want to advertise in russia, but youtube still doesn’t want to pull out, because of potential future revenue (after the war ends), and they can still sell user data 😎

I mean… kinda duh? By definition every corporation revolves around what will get them money. ISPs aren’t giving youtube a cut of the subscription costs… we aren’t paying for youtube premium or whatever they call it. Saying youtube is only interested in throwing us ads, is like saying Jiffy Lube only changes my oil because they want to get paid for it.
