However, most of the responses that mentioned Arch Linux didn’t provide a reason.

I suspect more people hate “Arch stans” than the Arch distro.

You get to remove one distro from the face of the earth, as if it had never been created. All distro’s based on it will also be removed. What do you choose to get rid of?

Arch linux, so people stop saying “i use arch btw”

and oh right, i use arch btw

Seems that the Reddit community has a different opinion than the rest of the outside world.

Yeah, Reddit enjoy bashing things in dishonest and bad faith. They censor anyone who have opposing/balanced views on things.

I think the entire tech/programming community has some really destructive ideas at it’s core. The freedom/libre thing is great, but almost every UI/Distro decision they stick with is completely opposite of what normal people want.

Calling Manjaro bloated is a bit unfair because one of their goals is to provide a good out-of-the-box experience for beginners.

I call the entire list bollocks because the reasons why the distros are not good are more than questionable. You do not abandon or avoid a Distro just because there are 1 or 2 things you do not like, you always can change stuff on your own and tweak it as you go with it. You will also never find something that is perfect unless you create it on your own and with your own opinion of what is good.

I get the hate for Ubuntu, but the counter of Arch annoys me to no end.

Ubuntu is widely used for a reason, Arch is niche for a reason. You don’t see Void or Debian users like me jerking about distros. We find what works for us and use it for whatever we need

It seems a little silly to see Arch on the list, Arch contributed quite a lot to overall Linux community more than people realized, one of those is Arch Wiki, so deleting Arch would also means deleting Arch Wiki if Arch was “never created.” Also Arch Linux help improve stability of software by having Arch Users test/report/bug fix the software upstream long before that software land on mainstream distros. One of the thing I remember was when one day, Plasma Desktop broke the setting menu, I reported it upstream and it was fixed within 8 hours and Arch would update the package within 2 hours after that, that is pretty robust as far as bug fixing and software testing goes.

Naturally I use Arch, mostly because it doesn’t try to hide header files and actually bundle it together with the package you are installing, when I used Ubuntu, it wasn’t uncommon that the packager forgot to create *-dev version of such package.

      Honestly!!!

The little elitist kiddos that populate the arch user circles we could do without obviously, but the package manager is pertty sweet, the setup process teaches a lot if you’re new, and the WIKI is such a staple no matter where you’re coming from in the linux community. dosen’t deserve a spot on that list.

Yeah I don’t even use Arch, but their Wiki has helped me out on a few occasions. It’s a respectable distro, and the documentation is one important part of it.

This list sorta makes sense. The more popular you are, the more haters you’re likely to have.

Can’t say I agree with much of this list, but I can see where it comes from /shrug

Its like that joke about programming languages:

There are two types of programming languages, ones that people complain about, and ones that nobody use.

I was expecting some actual worst distros on this list, but I’m guessing the respondents have never tried any of those and simply just tried a handful of the very best distros, and then claimed the one they liked least was the “worst” distro.

Hilariously, after years and years of distro hopping, I found myself back on Ubuntu recently.

Just delete little unsupported distros to improve the better ones. Ubuntu still have a sense to exists like all the big distributions.
